Europe power industry tenders in July 2020: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in July 2020 with 29 tenders and a share of 32.6%, up 8.5% over the previous month and down 3% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Germany with 11 tenders and a share of 12.4% and the UK with five tenders and a share of 5.6% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 30 tenders, followed by Germany with seven and France with four tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in July 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 16 tenders and a 38.1% share, followed by thermal with ten tenders and a 23.8% share and wind with six tenders and a 14.3% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in July 2020, with 25 tenders, followed by Power Plant (23) and T&D Equipment (19).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 37 tenders and a 41.6% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 27 tenders and a 30.3% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 12 tenders and a 13.5% share
  4. Electricity Supply: nine tenders and a 10.1% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 3.4% share
  6. Others: one tender and a 1.1% share.

Power tenders in July 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey): 1,000MW from one tender
  2. Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 650MW from one tender
  3. Ministere de la transition ecologique et solidaire (France): 250MW capacity from one tender.
