Europe power industry tenders in October 2020: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in October 2020 with 27 tenders and a share of 25%, down 7.2% over the previous month and down 16% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by France with seven tenders and a share of 6.5% and Germany with six tenders and a share of 5.6% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Poland held the top spot with 32 tenders, followed by Germany with nine and France with four tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in October 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 24 tenders and a 54.5% share, followed by wind with eight tenders and an 18.2% share and thermal with six tenders and a 13.6% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Europe as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in October 2020, with 32 tenders, followed by T&D Project (31) and Power Plant (30).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 45 tenders and a 41.7% share
  2. Project Implementation: 43 tenders and a 39.8% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: ten tenders and a 9.3% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: nine tenders and an 8.3% share
  5. Others: one tender and a 0.9% share.

Power tenders in October 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministere de l’Energie et de l’Amenagement du territoire: 40MW from one tender
  2. EDF Renewables Ireland: 30MW from one tender
  3. Electricity Authority of Cyprus (Cyprus): 12MW capacity from one tender.
