Europe power industry tenders in Q1 2020: Poland leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in Q1 2020 with 78 tenders and a share of 41.9%, up 0.5% over the previous quarter and down 10% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Germany with 14 tenders and a share of 7.5% and the UK with nine tenders and a share of 4.8% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, Poland held the top spot with 87 tenders, followed by Germany with 25 and France with 12 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q1 2020
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 34 tenders and a 43% share, followed by solar with 19 tenders and a 24.1% share and hydro with 11 tenders and a 13.9% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in Europe power tenders activity during Q1 2020, with 62 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (37) and Power Plant (37).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 81 tenders and a 43.5% share
- Supply & Erection: 51 tenders and a 27.4% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 33 tenders and a 17.7% share
- Electricity Supply: ten tenders and a 5.4% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: nine tenders and a 4.8% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 1.1% share.
Power tenders in Q1 2020: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- The Regulatory Authority for Energy (Greece): 600MW from one tender
- Government of the Republic of North Macedonia: 333MW from one tender
- Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (Bosnia and Herzegovina): 148MW capacity from two tenders.
