Europe power industry tenders in Q1 2021: Germany leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, Germany led the activity in Q1 2021 with 40 tenders and a share of 14.2%, up 9.5% over the previous quarter and up 90% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Poland with 40 tenders and a share of 14.2% and France with 32 tenders and a share of 11.3% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, Poland held the top spot with 94 tenders, followed by Germany with 21 and the UK with 16 tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in Q1 2021
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 60 tenders and a 42.6% share, followed by thermal with 35 tenders and a 24.8% share and wind with 20 tenders and a 14.2% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in Europe power tenders activity during Q1 2021, with 74 tenders, followed by Power Plant (73) and T&D Project (68).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 112 tenders and a 39.7% share
- Supply & Erection: 107 tenders and a 37.9% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 33 tenders and an 11.7% share
- Electricity Supply: 17 tenders and a 6% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: eight tenders and a 2.8% share
- Others: four tenders and a 1.4% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 0.4% share.
Power tenders in Q1 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:
- Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 9,058MW from 18 tenders
- Ministere de l’Ecologie, du Developpement Durable des Transports et du Logement: 1,050MW from one tender
- Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 700MW capacity from one tender.
