Europe power industry tenders in Q2 2020: Poland leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Poland led the activity in Q2 2020 with 82 tenders and a share of 28.8%, down 13.4% over the previous quarter and down 10% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Germany with 23 tenders and a share of 8.1% and France with 18 tenders and a share of 6.3% during the quarter.

Looking at the last four-quarter average, Poland held the top spot with 91 tenders, followed by Germany with 21 and Russia with 11 tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in Q2 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 56 tenders and a 45.9% share, followed by solar with 30 tenders and a 24.6% share and wind with 14 tenders and an 11.5% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in Europe power tenders activity during Q2 2020, with 70 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (64) and Generation Equipment (59).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 108 tenders and a 37.9% share
  2. Project Implementation: 93 tenders and a 32.6% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 41 tenders and a 14.4% share

Power tenders in Q2 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. The Regulatory Authority for Energy (Greece): 963.48MW from two tenders
  2. Ministro do Ambiente e da Transicao Energetica (Portugal) and Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Netherlands): 700MW from one tender
  3. LevelTen Energy (United States): 500MW capacity from one tender.
