Europe power plant contracts activity down 61% in Q2 2022

There were 62 power plant contracts announced in the Europe region in Q2 2022, marking a drop of 61% over the last four-quarter average of 159, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q2 2022 with 62 contracts and a 27.2% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 50 contracts and a 21.9% share and T&D Equipment with 42 contracts and an 18.4% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 34 contracts and a 54.8% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 13 contracts and a 21% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: eight contracts and a 12.9% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven contracts and an 11.3% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant contracts in Q2 2022

Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 26 contracts with a 41.9% share, followed by wind with 21 contracts and a 33.9% share and biopower with four contracts and a 6.5% share.

Europe power plant contracts in Q2 2022: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. EP Produzione (Italy): 881MW from one contract
  2. Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses (United States): 194MW from one contract
  3. Econergy Group (Israel): 154MW capacity from one contract.

Europe power plant contracts in Q2 2022: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Demont (Italy) and Siemens Energy (Germany): 881MW from one contract
  2. MYR Group (United States): 194MW from one contract
  3. InTEC Energy Solutions (Germany): 154MW capacity from one contract.
