Europe power plant contracts activity down 64% in October 2021

There were 27 power plant contracts announced in the Europe region in October 2021, marking a drop of 64% over the last 12-month average of 74, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in October 2021 with 27 contracts and a 30.3% share, followed by Electricity Procurement with 24 contracts and a 27% share and Generation Equipment with 22 contracts and a 24.7% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 22 contracts and an 81.5% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and an 11.1% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 7.4% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant contracts in October 2021

Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 18 contracts with a 66.7% share, followed by wind with seven contracts and a 25.9% share and hydro with one contract and a 3.7% share.

Europe power plant contracts in October 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Glennmont Partners (United Kingdom): 900MW from one contract
  2. Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 581.57MW from 15 contracts
  3. Sowi Kosovo (Kosovo): 102.6MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Orsted (Denmark): 900MW from one contract
  2. Naturgy Renovables (Spain): 221.4MW from three contracts
  3. Ignis Desarrollo (Spain): 144.11MW capacity from four contracts.
