Europe power plant contracts activity down 65% in July 2021

There were 28 power plant contracts announced in the Europe region in July 2021, marking a drop of 65% over the last 12-month average of 79, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in July 2021 with 28 contracts and a 29.5% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 22 contracts and a 23.2% share and Electricity Procurement with 20 contracts and a 21.1% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 18 contracts and a 64.3% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: seven contracts and a 25% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 10.7% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant contracts in July 2021

Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 12 contracts with a 42.9% share, followed by wind with eight contracts and a 28.6% share and nuclear with three contracts and a 10.7% share.

Europe power plant contracts in July 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Metaenergiaproduzione S.R.L: 380MW from one contract
  2. RWP VITOROG: 231MW from one contract
  3. Korporata Elektroenergjitike Shqiptare (Albania): 210MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Wartsila (Finland): 380MW from one contract
  2. Sinohydro (China): 231MW from one contract
  3. Bechtel (United States): 210MW capacity from one contract.
