Europe power plant contracts activity down 64% in February 2021

There were 27 power plant contracts announced in the Europe region in February 2021, marking a drop of 64% over the last 12-month average of 76, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

Generation Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in February 2021 with 37 contracts and a 33.6% share, followed by Power Plant with 27 contracts and a 24.5% share and Electricity Procurement with 15 contracts and a 13.6% share during the month.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 25 contracts and a 92.6% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 7.4% share.

Wind is top technology for Europe power plant contracts in February 2021

Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Europe region, wind accounted for 19 contracts with a 70.4% share, followed by solar with seven contracts and a 25.9% share and hydro with one contract and a 3.7% share.

Europe power plant contracts in February 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 519.7MW from 15 contracts
  2. Diverxia Infrastructure (Spain): 150MW from one contract
  3. Kronos Solar (Germany): 57MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Parc Eolien Mont des four Faux SASU (France): 226MW from one contract
  2. Obrascon Huarte Lain (Spain): 150MW from one contract
  3. Les Moulins du Lohan SASU (France): 68MW capacity from one contract.
