Europe power plant tenders activity up 21% in Q2 2021

There were 88 power plant tenders announced in the Europe region in Q2 2021, marking a rise of 21% over the last four-quarter average of 73, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Europe region in Q2 2021 with 88 tenders and a 26.3% share, followed by T&D Project with 84 tenders and a 25.1% share and T&D Equipment with 74 tenders and a 22.1% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 68 tenders and a 77.3% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 13 tenders and a 14.8% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 6.8% share
  4. Supply & Erection: one tender and a 1.1% share.

Solar is top technology for Europe power plant tenders in Q2 2021

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Europe region, solar accounted for 60 tenders with a 67.4% share, followed by wind with ten tenders and an 11.2% share and thermal with seven tenders and a 7.9% share.

Europe power plant tenders in Q2 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey) and Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Netherlands): 4,000MW from one tender
  2. Ministro do Ambiente e da Transicao Energetica (Portugal): 500MW from one tender
  3. Ministere de la transition ecologique et solidaire (France): 250MW capacity from one tender.
