Europe Solar technology contracts activity rises 38% in January 2021

Europe solar technology contracts in January 2021 saw 73 contracts announced, marking a rise of 38% over the last 12-month average of 53, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 60 contracts and an 82.2% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: eight contracts and an 11% share
  3. Supply & Erection: three contracts and a 4.1% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1.4% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one contract and a 1.4% share.

France tops Europe solar power contracts activity

France was the top country in the Europe region for solar technology contracts recorded in January 2021 with 58 contracts and a 79.5% share, followed by Spain with three contracts and a 4.1% share and Germany with two contracts and a 2.7% share.

Europe solar technology contracts in January 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Gresham House and PPC Renewables (Greece): 200MW from one contract
  2. Ministere de la transition ecologique et solidaire (France): 95.19MW from 56 contracts
  3. Shell New Energies (Netherlands): 30MW capacity from one contract.

Europe solar technology contracts in January 2021: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Anesco (United Kingdom): 230MW from two contracts
  2. Metka EGN (United Kingdom): 200MW from one contract
  3. Urbasolar (France): 13.65MW capacity from five contracts.
