Europe Solar technology contracts activity drops 66% in Q4 2020

Europe solar technology contracts in Q4 2020 saw 60 contracts announced, marking a drop of 66% over the last four-quarter average of 174, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection with 22 contracts and a 36.7% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 20 contracts and a 33.3% share
  3. Project Implementation: 16 contracts and a 26.7% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two contracts and a 3.3% share.

Spain tops Europe solar power contracts activity

Spain was the top country in the Europe region for solar technology contracts recorded in Q4 2020 with 13 contracts and a 21.7% share, followed by the UK with eight contracts and a 13.3% share and Germany with seven contracts and an 11.7% share.

Europe solar technology contracts in Q4 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Elawan Energy (Spain): 250MW from one contract
  2. Hive Energy (United Kingdom): 226MW from two contracts
  3. Hellenic Petroleum (Greece): 204MW capacity from one contract.

Europe solar technology contracts in Q4 2020: Top winners by capacity

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  1. Eiffage Energia S L U (Spain): 250MW from one contract
  2. juwi (Germany): 204MW from one contract
  3. Belectric Solar & Battery (Germany): 172MW capacity from one contract.
