The project was developed by Veolia Energy North America Holdings. Fengate Capital Management and Veolia Energy North America Holdings are currently owning the project.
The project supplies enough clean energy to power 40,000 households, offsetting 95,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $235m.
The process of combustion has been adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product, municipal solid waste and wood by-product are used as a feedstock to power the project.
The project got commissioned in 2018.
Power Purchase Agreement
The power generated from the project is sold to BC Hydro under a power purchase agreement for a period of 30 years.
Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion SAU was selected to render EPC services for the biopower project.
Siemens was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company supplied SST 400 model turbines for the project.
Veolia Energy North America Holdings is the O&M contractor for the project.
