Foyers is a 300MW hydro power project. It is located on Loch Ness river/basin in Scotland, the UK. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. Post completion of construction, the project got commissioned in 1974.

Description

The project was developed by British Aluminium and is currently owned by SSE.

Foyers is a pumped storage project. The gross head of the project is 179m. Foyers underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2011. The project generated 400 GWh of electricity.

The project got commissioned in 1974.

Contractors Involved

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 150MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy supplied 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 176.5 MVA.
