Gelantan is a 450MW hydro power project. It is located on Lixian river/basin in Yunnan, China. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 2003 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2008.

Description

The project was developed by Datang Yunnan Lixianjiang Hydropower Development. Datang International Power Generation, Beijing Guodian Anrong Energy Investment and Yunnan Pu’er State-owned Assets Management Co., Ltd.
are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 70%, 25% and 5% respectively.

Gelantan is a reservoir based project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 409 million cubic meter. The project generated 2,018 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $370.2m.

The hydro power project consists of 3 turbines, each with 150MW nameplate capacity.

Development Status

The project construction commenced in 2003 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2008.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to China Southern Power Grid under a power purchase agreement.
