Generation equipment contracts in November 2021 saw 83 contracts announced, marking a drop of 12% over the last 12-month average of 94, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 68 contracts and an 81.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven contracts and an 8.4% share
  3. Project Implementation: five contracts and a 6% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and a 3.6% share.

Europe leads generation equipment activity in November 2021

Comparing contracts activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 33 contracts and a share of 39.8% during November 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 26 contracts and a 31.3% share and North America with 15 contracts and an 18.1% share.

Wind is leading technology for generation equipment contracts in November 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 32 contracts with a 40.5% share, followed by solar with 20 contracts and a 25.3% share and thermal with 14 contracts and a 17.7% share.

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Gas Natural Acu (GNA) (Brazil): 1,700MW from one contract
  2. Korea Western Power (South Korea): 18MW from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Andrade Gutierrez (Brazil) and Siemens Energy (Germany): 1,700MW from one contract
  2. Wartsila (Finland): 150MW from one contract
  3. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (South Korea): 18MW capacity from one contract.
