Generation equipment contracts in July 2022 saw 25 contracts announced, marking a drop of 68% over the last 12-month average of 77, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 18 contracts and a 72% share
  2. Project Implementation: four contracts and a 16% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 12% share.

Asia-Pacific leads generation equipment activity in July 2022

Comparing contracts activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with ten contracts and a share of 40% during July 2022, followed by Europe with ten contracts and a 40% share and North America with two contracts and an 8% share.

Wind is leading technology for generation equipment contracts in July 2022

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 14 contracts with a 56% share, followed by thermal with five contracts and a 20% share and hydro with three contracts and a 12% share.

The top issuer of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:Energa (Poland) with 88MW from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Shanghai Electric Power Construction (China): 600MW from one contract
  2. Powerchina International Group (China): 200MW from one contract
  3. GE Gas Power (United States): 88MW capacity from one contract.
