Generation equipment contracts down 25% in February 2021

Generation equipment contracts in February 2021 saw 80 contracts announced, marking a drop of 25% over the last 12-month average of 107, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 68 contracts and an 85% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: ten contracts and a 12.5% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 1.3% share
  4. Project Implementation: one contract and a 1.3% share.

Europe leads generation equipment activity in February 2021

Comparing contracts activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 37 contracts and a share of 46.3% during February 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 24 contracts and a 30% share and North America with eight contracts and a 10% share.

Wind is leading technology for generation equipment contracts in February 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 34 contracts with a 42.5% share, followed by solar with 19 contracts and a 23.8% share and thermal with 13 contracts and a 16.3% share.

The top issuer of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:CHINT Group (China) with 48.5MW from one contract.
