Generation equipment contracts up 6% in June 2021

Generation equipment contracts in June 2021 saw 111 contracts announced, marking a rise of 6% over the last 12-month average of 105, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 83 contracts and a 74.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 22 contracts and a 19.8% share
  3. Project Implementation: four contracts and a 3.6% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 1.8% share.

Europe leads generation equipment activity in June 2021

Comparing contracts activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 45 contracts and a share of 40.5% during June 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 33 contracts and a 29.7% share and North America with 23 contracts and a 20.7% share.

Wind is leading technology for generation equipment contracts in June 2021

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 55 contracts with a 50% share, followed by thermal with 25 contracts and a 22.7% share and solar with 20 contracts and an 18.2% share.

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Lausitz Energie Bergbau (Germany): 300MW from one contract
  2. Oil India (India): 30MW from one contract.

  1. Siemens Energy (Germany): 300MW from one contract
  2. Wartsila (Finland): 30MW from one contract.
