Generation equipment contracts in September 2020 saw 125 contracts announced, marking a rise of 34% over the last 12-month average of 93, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 104 contracts and an 83.2% share
  2. Project Implementation: nine contracts and a 7.2% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: nine contracts and a 7.2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and a 2.4% share.

Europe leads generation equipment activity in September 2020

Comparing contracts activity in generation equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 52 contracts and a share of 41.6% during September 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 29 contracts and a 23.2% share and North America with 28 contracts and a 22.4% share.

Wind is leading technology for generation equipment contracts in September 2020

Among the technologies, wind accounted for 54 contracts with a 43.2% share, followed by thermal with 28 contracts and a 22.4% share and solar with 26 contracts and a 20.8% share.

The top issuers of generation equipment contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Taiwan Power (Taiwan): 6,500MW from one contract
  2. Hin Kong Power (Thailand): 1,400MW from one contract
  3. Gmina Puchaczow: 892MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. CTCI (Taiwan) and General Electric International (United States): 6,500MW from one contract
  2. Mitsubishi Power (Japan): 1,400MW from one contract
  3. ML System (Poland): 892MW capacity from one contract.
