Power industry contracts in August 2022: Asia-Pacific leads global activity

On comparing contracts activity in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with seven contracts and a share of 28% during August 2022, followed by Europe with seven contracts and a 28% share and North America with six contracts and a 24% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with four contracts and a 16% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one contract and a 4% share.

Wind tops by technology in August 2022

Looking at contracts by the type of technology, wind accounted for the largest proportion with ten contracts and a 47.6% share, followed by solar with seven contracts and a 33.3% share and nuclear with two contracts and a 9.5% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Electricity Procurement was the most popular segment during August 2022, with 17 contracts, followed by Power Plant (8) and T&D Project (5).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Power Purchase Agreement: 17 contracts and a 68% share
  2. Project Implementation: five contracts and a 20% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: three contracts and a 12% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. PTC India (India): 1,569MW from one contract
  2. Bavaria AB InBev: 486.7MW from one contract
  3. Morgan Stanley Capital Group (Canada): 400MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. SJVN Arun -3 Power Development (Nepal): 1,569MW from one contract
  2. Enel Green Power Colombia (Colombia): 486.7MW from one contract
  3. NaturEner USA (United States): 400MW capacity from one contract.
