Power industry contracts in November 2021: Asia-Pacific leads global activity

On comparing contracts activity in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 102 contracts and a share of 34.7% during November 2021, followed by Europe with 90 contracts and a 30.6% share and North America with 59 contracts and a 20.1% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 28 contracts and a 9.5% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 15 contracts and a 5.1% share.

Solar tops by technology in November 2021

Looking at contracts by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 127 contracts and a 49.6% share, followed by wind with 81 contracts and a 31.6% share and thermal with 19 contracts and a 7.4% share.

Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment during November 2021, with 83 contracts, followed by Power Plant (81) and Electricity Procurement (76).

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 94 contracts and a 32% share
  2. Project Implementation: 84 contracts and a 28.6% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: 72 contracts and a 24.5% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: 24 contracts and an 8.2% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 16 contracts and a 5.4% share
  6. Electricity Supply: three contracts and a 1% share
  7. Others: one contract and a 0.3% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners KS (Denmark): 10,000MW from one contract
  2. Gas Natural Acu (GNA) (Brazil): 1,700MW from one contract
  3. EDF (United States): 1,400MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Acciona (Spain), Boskalis (Netherlands), DEME Group (Belgium) and MT Hojgaard Holding (Denmark): 10,000MW from one contract
  2. Siemens Energy (Germany) and Andrade Gutierrez (Brazil): 1,700MW from one contract
  3. RWE (Germany): 1,400MW capacity from one contract.
