Power industry contracts in Q3 2021: Europe leads global activity
On comparing contracts activity in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 330 contracts and a share of 33.2% during Q3 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 324 contracts and a 32.6% share and North America with 186 contracts and an 18.7% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 99 contracts and a 10% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 55 contracts and a 5.5% share.

Solar tops by technology in Q3 2021
Looking at contracts by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 408 contracts and a 46.4% share, followed by wind with 283 contracts and a 32.2% share and thermal with 72 contracts and an 8.2% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in global power contracts activity during Q3 2021, with 351 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (263) and Generation Equipment (238).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 334 contracts and a 33.6% share
- Supply & Erection: 282 contracts and a 28.4% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 228 contracts and a 22.9% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 70 contracts and a 7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 54 contracts and a 5.4% share
- Electricity Supply: 21 contracts and a 2.1% share
- Others: five contracts and a 0.5% share.

The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Akimat of Mangystau Region: 30,000MW from one contract
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 4,310MW from 16 contracts
- AO ATC (Russia): 2,722.08MW capacity from 58 contracts.

The top winners of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Svevind (Sweden): 30,000MW from one contract
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 3,350.64MW from five contracts
