Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of contracts for the month, accounting for 60 contracts and a 64.5% share, followed by Offshore with 30 contracts and a 32.3% share. Onshore Repowered stood in third place with three contracts and a 3.2% share.

Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the second position in terms of number of contracts during December 2021 with a 33.1% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 45 contracts and a 48.9% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: 21 contracts and a 22.8% share
  3. Project Implementation: 15 contracts and a 16.3% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five contracts and a 5.4% share
  5. Consulting & Similar Services: five contracts and a 5.4% share
  6. Electricity Supply: one contract and a 1.1% share.

Europe leads wind contracts activity in December 2021

Comparing contracts activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 55 contracts and a share of 59.8% during December 2021, followed by North America with 16 contracts and a 17.4% share and Asia-Pacific with 13 contracts and a 14.1% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with eight contracts and an 8.7% share.

The top issuers of contracts in Wind technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (Taiwan): 1,200MW from one contract
  2. Danish Energy Agency (Denmark): 1,000MW from one contract
  3. Jiangsu Huawei Wind Power (China) and Qidong Hua Er Rui Wind Power Technology: 802MW capacity from one contract.

The top winners of contracts for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Wpd (Germany): 1,200MW from one contract
  2. RWE (Germany) and RWE Renewables (Germany): 1,000MW from one contract
  3. Powerchina Huadong Engineering (China): 802MW capacity from one contract.
