Looking at global power contracts activity divided by the type of technology, hydro held the fourth position in terms of number of contracts during July 2021 with a 7.6% share.

The proportion of contracts by category in the Hydro technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: eight contracts and a 38.1% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: six contracts and a 28.6% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 14.3% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two contracts and a 9.5% share
  5. Electricity Supply: two contracts and a 9.5% share.

Asia-Pacific leads hydro contracts activity in July 2021

Comparing contracts activity in hydro technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with six contracts and a share of 28.6% during July 2021, followed by Europe with six contracts and a 28.6% share and South and Central America with four contracts and a 19% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with three contracts and a 14.3% share and in fifth place was North America with two contracts and a 9.5% share.

Hydro technology contracts in July 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of contracts in Hydro technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. State Grid Corporation of China (China): 1,200MW from one contract
  2. Korporata Elektroenergjitike Shqiptare (Albania): 210MW from one contract
  3. Nordural Grundartangi ehf: 182MW capacity from one contract.
