Global power industry tenders for August 2022 down 93%

Power industry tenders activity in August 2022 saw 29 tenders announced, marking a drop of 93% over the last 12-month average of 405, according to GlobalData’s power database.

Power industry tenders in August 2022: Europe leads global activity

On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 13 tenders and a share of 44.8% during August 2022, followed by Middle East and Africa with 12 tenders and a 41.4% share and South and Central America with four tenders and a 13.8% share.

On the basis of the last 12-month average, North America held a lead over others with 118 tenders, followed by Asia-Pacific with 114.

Hydro tops by technology in August 2022

Looking at tenders by the type of technology, hydro accounted for the largest proportion with 21 tenders and a 72.4% share, followed by nuclear with four tenders and a 13.8% share and solar with three tenders and a 10.3% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment during August 2022, with 28 tenders, followed by Others (5) and Generation Equipment (4).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 14 tenders and a 48.3% share
  2. Project Implementation: six tenders and a 20.7% share
  3. Others: five tenders and a 17.2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 13.8% share.

Power tenders in August 2022: Top companies by capacity

The top issuer of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved was: ZESCO (Zambia) with 100MW from two tenders.
