Power industry tenders in February 2022: Middle East and Africa leads global activity

On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, Middle East and Africa held the top position with 19 tenders and a share of 37.3% during February 2022, followed by Asia-Pacific with 15 tenders and a 29.4% share and Europe with 14 tenders and a 27.5% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with two tenders and a 3.9% share and in fifth place was North America with one tender and a 2% share.

Solar tops by technology in February 2022

Looking at tenders by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with eight tenders and a 57.1% share, followed by hydro with two tenders and a 14.3% share and nuclear with two tenders and a 14.3% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment during February 2022, with 23 tenders, followed by T&D Project (16) and Power Plant (10).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 27 tenders and a 52.9% share
  2. Project Implementation: 19 tenders and a 37.3% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 5.9% share
  4. Others: one tender and a 2% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 2% share.

Power tenders in February 2022: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security: 200MW from one tender
  2. El Paso Electric (United States): 10MW from one tender.
