Power industry tenders in November 2021: North America leads global activity

On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 230 tenders and a share of 36.9% during November 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with 173 tenders and a 27.7% share and Asia-Pacific with 126 tenders and a 20.2% share.

In fourth place was Europe with 64 tenders and a 10.3% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 31 tenders and a 5% share.

Thermal tops by technology in November 2021

Looking at tenders by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 133 tenders and a 53.2% share, followed by solar with 97 tenders and a 38.8% share and hydro with 12 tenders and a 4.8% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment during November 2021, with 255 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (137) and Power Plant (105).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 374 tenders and a 59.9% share
  2. Project Implementation: 125 tenders and a 20% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 90 tenders and a 14.4% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: 31 tenders and a 5% share
  5. Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 0.3% share
  6. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 0.2% share
  7. Others: one tender and a 0.2% share.

Power tenders in November 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Public Works and Government Services Canada: 255,000MW from one tender
  2. Saudi Power Procurement (Saudi Arabia): 3,600MW from one tender
  3. Georgia Power (United States): 1,030MW capacity from one tender.
