Power industry tenders in October 2021: Middle East and Africa leads global activity

On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, Middle East and Africa held the top position with 219 tenders and a share of 33.2% during October 2021, followed by North America with 219 tenders and a 33.2% share and Asia-Pacific with 118 tenders and a 17.9% share.

In fourth place was Europe with 78 tenders and an 11.8% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 26 tenders and a 3.9% share.

Thermal tops by technology in October 2021

Looking at tenders by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 143 tenders and a 49% share, followed by solar with 121 tenders and a 41.4% share and wind with 15 tenders and a 5.1% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment during October 2021, with 264 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (152) and Power Plant (106).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 382 tenders and a 57.9% share
  2. Project Implementation: 158 tenders and a 23.9% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 79 tenders and a 12% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: 27 tenders and a 4.1% share
  5. Power Purchase Agreement: seven tenders and a 1.1% share
  6. Electricity Supply: five tenders and a 0.8% share
  7. Others: two tenders and a 0.3% share.

Power tenders in October 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Renewable Energy and Electricity Efficiency Organization: 10,000MW from one tender
  2. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 2,900MW from three tenders
  3. Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (South Africa): 2,600MW capacity from one tender.
