Global power industry tenders in August 2021: Thermal technology up 16%

Thermal technology tenders activity in August 2021 saw 171 tenders announced, marking a rise of 16% over the last 12-month average of 147, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 152 tenders and an 88.4% share, followed by Gas with 20 tenders and an 11.6% share.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the top position in terms of number of tenders during August 2021 with a 54.5% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 104 tenders and a 60.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 62 tenders and a 36.3% share
  3. Project Implementation: three tenders and a 1.8% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 1.2% share.

North America leads thermal tenders activity in August 2021

Comparing tenders activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 105 tenders and a share of 61.4% during August 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 31 tenders and an 18.1% share and Middle East and Africa with 21 tenders and a 12.3% share.

In fourth place was Europe with 12 tenders and a 7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with two tenders and a 1.2% share.

Thermal technology tenders in August 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuer of tenders in Thermal technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:Ministry of Electricity and Water (Kuwait) with 7,200MW from two tenders.
