Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, hydro held the third position in terms of number of tenders during Q3 2021 with a 4.9% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Hydro technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 18 tenders and a 36.7% share
  2. Project Implementation: 17 tenders and a 34.7% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and a 12.2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 10.2% share
  5. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 2% share
  6. Others: one tender and a 2% share
  7. Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 2% share.

Europe leads hydro tenders activity in Q3 2021

Comparing tenders activity in hydro technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 19 tenders and a share of 38.8% during Q3 2021, followed by Asia-Pacific with 12 tenders and a 24.5% share and North America with eight tenders and a 16.3% share.

In fourth place was South and Central America with five tenders and a 10.2% share and in fifth place was Middle East and Africa with five tenders and a 10.2% share.

Hydro technology tenders in Q3 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Hydro technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Russian Association of Wind Power Industry (Russia): 6,700MW from one tender
  2. Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 2,500MW from five tenders
  3. Ministerio de Energia y Recursos Naturales No Renovables and Corporacion Electrica del Ecuador (Ecuador): 500MW capacity from one tender.
