Description

Hanhikivi 1 is a Generation III+ nuclear reactor being developed by JSC Concern Titan-2 and RAOS Project, are the main contractors for the project.

The 1,250MW reactor is currently owned and will be operated by Fennovoima.

Hanhikivi 1 is a type of PWR reactor. It will feature 163 fuel assemblies in the core of reactor, the place where fission occurs and energy is released.

The material used for the construction of the vessel will be Steel 15H2NMFA.

Development Status

The reactor construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter commercial operation by 2029.

Contractors Involved

GE Power will be the steam turbine supplier for the nuclear reactor. Atomproekt is expected to be the architect engineer for the reactor. The civil works will be carried out by JSC Concern Titan-2.
