The project is being developed and currently owned by Landsvirkjun hf.
Hvammur is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 3.3 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 32m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 2 in number. The penstock length will be 270m. The project is expected to generate 720 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $131.329m.
The hydro power project consists of 2 turbines, each with 46.5MW nameplate capacity.
