Hylen is a 160MW hydro power project. It is located on Suldalsvatnet river/basin in Vestland, Norway. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1980 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1986.

Description

Statkraft, Lyse, Agder Energi and Statkraft Energi are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 71.9%, 17.96%, 6% and 1.49% respectively.

Hylen is a run-of-river project. The gross head of the project is 68m. The project generated 583 GWh of electricity.

Contractors Involved

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 81.6MW nameplate capacity.
