The Jiangsu Electric Power-Zhenjiang Battery Energy Storage System is a 101,000kW energy storage project located in Zhenjiang city, Jiangsu, China.
The electro-chemical battery energy storage project uses lithium-ion as its storage technology. The project was commissioned in 2018.
The key applications of the project are renewables capacity firming and renewables energy time shift.
The plant will provide a daily electricity supply of 400 MWh, which can meet the demands of 170,000 residents in Zhenjiang. Eight grid-side projects totalling 101 MW/202 MWh began operation on July 18 using lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by ESS developers eTrust, China Aviation Lithium Battery, Contemporary Amperex Technology, Guoxuan, and ZTT. Of these, start-up eTrust provided the largest battery at 40 MW/80 MWh.
