The project is currently owned by Kenya Electricity Generating.
The hydro reservoir capacity is 585 million cubic meter. Kiambere underwent through rehabilitation & modernization during 2006-2009. The project generated 887.9 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $319.118m.

Contractors Involved
Voith Hydro Holding was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 84MW nameplate capacity.
Voith Hydro Holding supplied 2 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 85 MVA.
