The project was developed by THDC India and is currently owned by NTPC with a stake of 74.49%.

Koteshwar is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is 88.9 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 69m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 4 in number. The penstock diameter is 6.2m. The project generated 1,155 GWh of electricity. The project cost is $406.865m.

Contractors Involved

Bharat Heavy Electricals was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 4 units of francis turbines, each with 100MW nameplate capacity.
