The Lahmeyer Rukwa Power Plant is 360MW coal fired power project. It is planned in Rukwa, Tanzania. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in multiple phases. Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Edenville Power Tanzania. The company has a stake of 100%.

It is a steam turbine power plant. The fuel will be procured from Mkomolo and Namwele Coal Mines.

The thermal power project consists of 2 turbines each with 60 MW nameplate capacity and 2 turbines each with 120 MW nameplate capacity respectively.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2023. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

Contractors Involved

Sinohydro is expected to render EPC services for the coal fired power project.
