Description

The project was developed by Associated Electric Cooperative and Wind Capital Group. The project is currently owned by Pattern Energy Group with a stake of 100%.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 50,000 households, offsetting 373,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is $300m.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Associated Electric Cooperative under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2010. The contracted capacity is 150MW.

Contractors Involved

Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives was selected to render EPC services for the wind power project.

GE Renewable Energy was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The project consists of 100 units of 1.5-82.5 turbines, each with 1.5MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy is the O&M contractor for the wind power project for a period of 5 years.

About Associated Electric Cooperative

Associated Electric Cooperative Inc (AECI) is a non-profit electric utility. It generates, procures, and transmits electricity. The company produces energy using natural gas, coal, hydro and wind sources. Through long-term wind power purchase agreements, AECI procures power from other utilities, primarily wind farms in Missouri. It also sources hydropower from federal dams in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas. Along with its generation and transmission (G&T) member customers, AECI constructs and maintains transmission facilities. It sells electricity to distribution cooperatives, G&T members and its associated and member-owners in Missouri, southern Iowa, and northeast Oklahoma on wholesale basis. AECI is headquartered in Springfield, Missouri, the US.
