Lower Spat Gah, Pakistan

Lower Spat Gah is a 496MW hydro power project. It is planned on Spat Gah river/basin in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2026 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2029.

The project is being developed by DL Energy and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power. Korea Midland Power, Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority, DL Energy, LOTTE Engineering & Construction and POSCO Engineering & Construction are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 34%, 26%, 14%, 6% and 2% respectively.

Lower Spat Gah is a run-of-river project. The gross head of the project will be 745m. The project is expected to generate 2,084 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $1,300m.

The hydro power project consists of 3 units of pelton turbines.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2026. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2029.

Contractors Involved

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the hydro power project for a period of 30 years.
