The project is currently owned by Vinacomin-Power Holding.

It is a Steam Turbine power plant. The fuel is procured from Mao Khe, Trang Bach, Khe Chuoi and Hong Thai mines.

The project cost is $557m.

Kaidi Ecological And Environmental Technology was selected to render EPC services for the coal fired power project.

Mao Khe Power Plant (Mao Khe Power Plant Unit I) is equipped with Dongfang Turbine steam turbine. The phase consists of 1 steam turbine with 220MW nameplate capacity.

Mao Khe Power Plant (Mao Khe Power Plant Unit II) is equipped with Dongfang Turbine steam turbine. The phase consists of 1 steam turbine with 220MW nameplate capacity.

Sumitomo SHI FW Energia supplied steam boiler for the project.
