Menchum Hydropower Project is a 72MW hydro power project. It is planned on Menchum river/basin in Northwest, Cameroon. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. The project construction is likely to commence in 2024 and is expected to enter into commercial operation in 2026.

Description

The project is being developed by Menchum Power Project and is currently owned by Ministry of Water Resources and Energy.

The project is expected to generate 400 GWh of electricity. The project cost is expected to be around $325m.

Development Status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2024. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2026.

Contractors Involved

China International Water & Electric is expected to render EPC services for the hydro power project.
