Metehara Solar PV Park, Ethiopia

Metehara Solar PV Park is a 100MW solar PV power project. It is planned in Oromia, Ethiopia. The project is currently in permitting stage. It will be developed in single phase. Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2022.

Description

The project is being developed and currently owned by Enel Green Power and Orchid Business Group. The company’s ownership stake in the project stands as 80% and 20% respectively.

Metehara Solar PV Park is a ground-mounted solar project which is planned over 250 hectares.

The project is expected to generate 280GWh electricity to offset 296,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year. The project cost is expected to be around $130m.

Development Status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2022.

Power Purchase Agreement

The power generated from the project will be sold to Ethiopian Electric Power under a power purchase agreement. The power will be sold at the rate of $0.059kWh for a period of 20 years. The capacity to be procured is 100MW.
