Middle East and Africa generation equipment contracts activity up 53% in Q2 2021

There were 23 generation equipment contracts announced in the Middle East and Africa region in Q2 2021, marking a rise of 53% over the last four-quarter average of 15, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in Q2 2021 with 30 contracts and a 23.4% share, followed by Power Plant with 28 contracts and a 21.9% share and Generation Equipment with 23 contracts and an 18% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 15 contracts and a 65.2% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven contracts and a 30.4% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 4.3% share.

Thermal is top technology for Middle East and Africa generation equipment contracts in Q2 2021

Looking at generation equipment contracts by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, thermal accounted for 11 contracts with a 47.8% share, followed by solar with seven contracts and a 30.4% share and hydro with three contracts and a 13% share.
