Middle East and Africa power industry tenders in November 2019: South Africa leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, South Africa led the activity in November 2019 with 26 tenders and a share of 23.9%, up 2.6% over the previous month and down 46% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Iraq with 23 tenders and a share of 21.1% and Oman with 20 tenders and a share of 18.3% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, South Africa held the top spot with 48 tenders, followed by Oman with 20 and Saudi Arabia with seven tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in November 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with ten tenders and a 47.6% share, followed by solar with six tenders and a 28.6% share and hydro with two tenders and a 9.5% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Middle East and Africa as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in November 2019, with 49 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (37) and Generation Equipment (11).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 47 tenders and a 43.1% share
- Project Implementation: 31 tenders and a 28.4% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 26 tenders and a 23.9% share
