Middle East and Africa power industry tenders in November 2020: South Africa leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, South Africa led the activity in November 2020 with 28 tenders and a share of 33.7%, down 7.7% over the previous month and up 65% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Kenya with 12 tenders and a share of 14.5% and Uganda with six tenders and a share of 7.2% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, South Africa held the top spot with 17 tenders, followed by Oman with six and Iraq with five tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in November 2020
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 38 tenders and a 67.9% share, followed by thermal with 14 tenders and a 25% share and hydro with three tenders and a 5.4% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Middle East and Africa as tracked by GlobalData, Power Plant was the most popular segment in November 2020, with 31 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (23) and T&D Equipment (23).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 40 tenders and a 48.2% share
- Project Implementation: 28 tenders and a 33.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: eight tenders and a 9.6% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: seven tenders and an 8.4% share.

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:

- United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (Switzerland): 1.9MW from four tenders
