Middle East and Africa power industry tenders in October 2019: Oman leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, Oman led the activity in October 2019 with 30 tenders and a share of 27%, up 2.9% over the previous month and up 67% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by South Africa with 24 tenders and a share of 21.6% and Saudi Arabia with eight tenders and a share of 7.2% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, South Africa held the top spot with 49 tenders, followed by Oman with 18 and Saudi Arabia with seven tenders.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in October 2019
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 16 tenders and a 55.2% share, followed by solar with 11 tenders and a 37.9% share and hydro with two tenders and a 6.9% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Middle East and Africa as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Project was the most popular segment in October 2019, with 41 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (39) and Generation Equipment (14).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 52 tenders and a 46.8% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 32 tenders and a 28.8% share
- Project Implementation: 20 tenders and an 18% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 5.4% share
