T&D Project stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in Q2 2020 with 28 contracts and a 34.1% share, followed by Power Plant with 21 contracts and a 25.6% share and Generation Equipment with 16 contracts and a 19.5% share during the quarter.

The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 14 contracts and a 66.7% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: four contracts and a 19% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three contracts and a 14.3% share.

Solar is top technology for Middle East and Africa power plant contracts in Q2 2020

Looking at power plant contracts by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, solar accounted for 12 contracts with a 57.1% share, followed by thermal with seven contracts and a 33.3% share and wind with one contract and a 4.8% share.

The top issuers of power plant contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:

  1. Primesouth Lebanon s.a.l.: 640MW from one contract
  2. ZESCO (Zambia): 600MW from one contract
