T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in Q3 2021 with 323 tenders and a 54.1% share, followed by Power Plant with 91 tenders and a 15.2% share and Generation Equipment with 84 tenders and a 14.1% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 72 tenders and a 79.1% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 15 tenders and a 16.5% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four tenders and a 4.4% share.

Solar is top technology for Middle East and Africa power plant tenders in Q3 2021

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, solar accounted for 84 tenders with a 92.3% share, followed by thermal with three tenders and a 3.3% share and geothermal with two tenders and a 2.2% share.

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:

  1. Ministry of Electricity and Water (Kuwait): 7,200MW from two tenders
  2. Ministere de l’Energie (Algeria): 1,000MW from one tender
  3. The Islamic Charity Center Society: 950MW capacity from one tender.
