Middle East and Africa solar technology contracts in Q3 2021 saw 36 contracts announced, marking a rise of 6% over the last four-quarter average of 34, according to GlobalData’s power industry contracts database.

The proportion of solar technology contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 16 contracts and a 44.4% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 12 contracts and a 33.3% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: seven contracts and a 19.4% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: one contract and a 2.8% share.

The United Arab Emirates tops Middle East and Africa solar power contracts activity

The United Arab Emirates was the top country in the Middle East and Africa region for solar technology contracts recorded in Q3 2021 with seven contracts and a 19.4% share, followed by Nigeria with five contracts and a 13.9% share and Egypt with four contracts and an 11.1% share.

Middle East and Africa solar technology contracts in Q3 2021: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of contracts for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:

  1. Government of Iraq (Iraq): 2,000MW from one contract
  2. Falcore Power and Energy (Nigeria): 360MW from one contract
  3. EDF Renewables Israel (Israel): 60MW capacity from one contract.
